Training in Georgia (Kobuleti)

Activity 2 (20 - 24 of August 2021)

Activity 2 training in Georgia: After first activity - training - trained young people will have local practice phase. The participants of the training will organize workshops in local communities, in each community at least one workshop will be organized.We expect to have the same participants on second activity mixed with participants who will attend local workshops in communities. Mainly the specific target group for the local activities are: Refugees, internally displaced people, migrants, minority groups, young people living under poverty or having geographical obstacles. The main objectives of the second training is: -To increase competences of participants on social/non-violent activism; - To increase competences of participants to initiate, design and implement nonviolent actions and campaigns through digital tools (videography). - To provide a safe space and opportunity for participants to plan and implement follow up actions in communities;

We decided to make long-term training course because the background of our project were the currently existing regional conflicts in Eastern Europe and Caucasus and the increasing tensions within many EU countries in regards to nationalism, xenophobia and racism. Different forms of conflicts are often closely interrelated, young people affected by conflicts whether on international, national or on local level very often develop xenophobic and racist attitudes that can lead to aggression and violence towards other ethnicity, people of other nationalities, or just any type of minorities. On top of geopolitical and territorial armed conflicts, simply chauvinism, racism and discrimination combined with violence and life threatening acts towards minority groups create the need to look for effective strategies to address issues of conflict and violence among young people.As we already mentioned in the application all partner organizations are working with different young people with fewer opportunities during the first training participants will more explore realities and second training will give the opportunity them to raise awareness and deepen knowledge about practical tools in order to inspire and motivate them to become active citizens and run non-violent actions for local youth in order to lead communities on democratic citizenship paths. We wish to conduct second training in Cyprus as first we are experiencing together Eastern European realities and discrimination and during second training the community where minority groups have more opportunities and different lifestyle. Also the hosting/applicant organization is very experienced in conducting activities for young people with different background and support their integration process in society. The experience is connected with local non-violent activism which will be benefit for participants from other communities.Through meeting with local community representatives participants will learn about interests and needs in order to use this experience during planning their follow up activities, as well to use gained knowledge in their daily life in own communities.Lacking of practical experiences and knowledge about how to become involved in youth participation or to use activism as an alternative way of youth participation, youngsters are lacking of clarity about roles and responsibilities, involvement of young people in participation programs is often transient resulting in sustainability issues - these specific issues gave us a motivation to implement the project in two phases and first part to learn more about youth participation and discrimination and second part to deepen knowledge about activism, and to make the working process in communities more inclusive and result oriented. This activity will be helpful for young people with fewer opportunities because often they need the support from youth organisations/by youth workers or leaders of the organizations/or activists and the guidance from their side to start off and valorise an initiative, to be involved actively in community life and to meet other communities from different cultures.

The training course is dedicated to youth workers / youth leaders with less (or without) experience in working on the topic of participation of vulnerable young people (who are involved in the process of the project since the beginning). We consider « vulnerable » people who are excluded, discriminated or their opportunities are limited because of their economical/geographical/social situation, physical appearance, mental condition, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, nationality, religion, educational background etc.

Program of the training
